Island KRK

Krk (pronounced [kr̩̂k]; German: Vegl; Latin: Curicta; Italian: Veglia; Vegliot Dalmatian: Vikla; Ancient Greek: Κύρικον, Kyrikon) is a Croatian island in the northern Adriatic Sea, located near Rijeka in the Bay of Kvarner and part of Primorje-Gorski Kotar county. Traditionally, Krk had been thought to be the largest Adriatic island, with an area of 405.78 km2 (156.67 sq mi),[2][3] until a geographical survey and remeasurements done in 2011 determined that the neighboring island of Cres has an equal area. Krk is the most populous island in the Adriatic Sea, with multiple towns and villages that contain a total of 19,383 (2011) inhabitants.

Center of Kvarner

In the heart of Kvarner is Rijeka, one of Croatia’s largest cities. Rijeka and its ring have everything that a top tourist region needs: a rich cultural offer, a dynamic entertainment life, beautiful beaches, romantic old towns, and a counterpoint to the rhythm of the urban center and the tranquility of old towns. Whether you are looking for fun, vacations, religious reasons, a business meeting or sports activities, you will find everything you need in this region. And much more!

As a city of interesting historical events, Rijeka has many cultural monuments but also organizes festivals and cultural events. But other centers of the region, such as Kraljevica, Kostrena, Bakar, Kastav, Jelenje and Čavle, are equally interesting, creating a balance between the dynamic city center of Rijeka and the more relaxed pace of the city ring.
